The Good Life?

When i was a lass i always remember watching all the old TV programs with my parents whilst eating our tea on our lap trays! we weren't a very civilised family, eating round the table was for special occasions only. But, i always remember watching Porridge, Only fools and horses, open all hours but, the one i loved the most had to be The good life. I loved the good life! It was my dream in a television program. At the moment we live in a top floor apartment so being completely self sufficiant is impossible but i can't wait to move to the country. I would love to get up in the morning to feed the chickens, ducks, geese, may be a few pigs and goats too. The kitchen is where the magic happens in a home in my opinion. There is no greater pleasure than cooking a wonderful hearty meal for your family and then all sitting down to enjoy it together whilst having a good old chat about the type of day everyone has had. Cooking is a great pleasure of mine but what makes it all the more pleasurable is being able to use fresh ingredients that you have grown or reared yourself. There is so much more flavour in home grown fruit, veg and herbs than there is in anything you can buy from the supermarket. The future excites me as i know it is exactly what my partner wants also. Another great thing about having animals is that i can bring the children up knowing how to treat animals properly and educating them on where we get our food from. I have been looking at houses recently longing for the time to come where we can pack up, move away and start our new self sufficiant life together in the country but for now, i best get back to my chicken dinner cooking away on the stove.
